As so many others are doing on this day I have been in reflection about the events that happened just a few years ago. A day that is so deeply ingrained upon the physic of our American lives. A day of shock, horror and such profound sorrow. Although it wasn’t the first time Americans had felt the tragic loss of loved ones in such vast numbers as we have lost countless lives in wars all around the world and even sadly right here on our own soil before. It was the fact that this was the first time the enemy had dared to sneak upon the sacred soil of our ancestors and steal the lives of our loved ones like the thieving cowards they are. We were all so shocked, we were so outraged and horrified and even now we still feel those emotions echoing through our land. Families still mourn heavily the lives lost during the awful tragedy.
I can’t help but feel that today on the anniversary of that day September 11th 2001 we are feeling something even greater perhaps than all of those powerful emotions we felt on that day so long ago.
I believe that people like myself are feeling all the emotions of the day with a stirring of hope that is beginning to resonate within, but there is also that feeling I get that something is about to come undone. That something is about to break loose and even now you can almost see the web-like fissure running across the surface of the glass and before to long it will splinter into a million pieces.
Psalms 36:1 The transgressions of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
Looking back after 9/11 the churches and synagogues were full. People were praying like never before. God was once again very popular. People got to know their neighbors again and for once knowing everyone’s business was okay, it meant you were safe. For a time it almost looked like America would see revival, almost.
Now, fast forward here we are 13 years later. We have fallen back to sleep.
Not only are we apathetic toward what is going on in the world at large, we are apathetic to what’s going on around us.
On Social Media we post and share about all kinds of things from political rants, to Jesus is my everything, to the best recipes for brownies or whatever. By and large we are out of touch with the greater reality which is; time’s up. The whole world lies in darkness and it’s beginning to splinter like a pebble thrown upon a very thin mirror.
Are you ready for the consequences of it coming completely undone?
Freedom is a costly word that we have taken for granted for to long. Trouble is we only think about the freedom as it relates to America. Have you ever considered the freedom Christ gave you as an American? I really hope that you stop and think about it, really and truly think about it because the day is fast approaching that not only will our American freedom be lost, but so will our Christian freedom as well.
You might be thinking that I am being a drag, I’m talking fear. I’m sorry that you may be feeling that but if I am stepping on your toes and it hurts; good. I hope it hurts because you need a wake up call.
We are living in Sodom and Gomorrah. Worse than that if that is even possible. Sodom and Gomorrah cringes at our audacity I’m sure.
We call Sin freedom and Murder choice.
We call Charisma church and Holiness boring
We call Righteousness antiquated and Tolerance God’s love
In short; just as the Bible said we would do:
We call evil good and Good evil
What should have been a time for our country to have turned in solidarity back to the Lord our God was only a feeble attempt to stay His hand while we appeased our consciences. 13 years later we have gotten worse not better and so has our enemy.
What should we do?
We should with all haste return to the God of our Fathers.
Run as fast as we can to the Lord and plead for mercy.
Psalms 139:23- 24 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
There is forgiveness with the Most High and He will redeem us no doubt about it.
Psalms 37 1-2 Fret not thyself because of evil doers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For soon they shall be cut down like the grass, and wither like the herb.
There is something beautiful to behold about the heart that truly turns to The Lord in true honest brokenness. When we allow God to splinter our hearts in true repentance. We can be used greatly for The Lord in what is sure to be a very dark hour upon the earth. The truth is that all these things happening are just the beginning of the sorrows that are to come. So before the splintering that comes in the form of the wrath of God, allow Him to splinter your life with the water of His Word. The ripple of the pebble of His Word across your heart will produce the peaceable fruit of righteousness and in these times you will stand as a beacon of light to a dark world with nowhere to turn.
I leave you with one more verse from the Psalmist David who understood the broken place so well. I encourage you to go look up these Psalms and let them wash over you as David ponders the wicked and their end. As he remembers the loving-kindness of His Great and Mighty God.
Psalms 36:5-6 Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O Lord, thou preservest man and beast.
It is never about how great we are or how well we can arm ourselves against an innumerable enemy. It is always about where we choose to put our allegiance and our trust. Man cannot save you, governments will fail you, you yourself will fail in your own strength. So; trust in The Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
If you choose to trust in anything other than God the day will come that you will find yourself splintered in a million different pieces with no hope for a future. The Lord will have come and the bride of Christ will have left and your heart will be crushed with such a devasting loss you will not be able to bear it.
The man of sin, that son of perdition revealed, will tell you he has peace, that all will be well but he is the great deceiver and he will be lying. His deception will so great that by the time you figure it out the final fissure will have reached the end of the run and your future will be sealed forever.
Return to the Lord while it is day and there is time. Throw aside every sin that so easily besets you, allow the The Lord to wash you and cleanse you from sin. You and I are sinners whether you like it or not. You will face eternity with Christ or without Him.
I really don’t like to write heavy words because they burden my heart so much. I like to write about good times and how much God loves us and pursues us.
I would be wrong not to tell you though that He is also a God of Holiness; of Righteousness and we cannot continue as a nation refusing to allow Him to even be mentioned and expect Him to help us.
We scream I want my rights, I want my freedom, I want my choice!
Well here it is!
Choose you this day whom you will serve, as for me and my house we will serve The Lord!
Evil or not, my God is able to deliver me. I choose to allow the Word of God to splinter my heart and any iniquity found within rather than His wrath to splinter my soul in hell!
Choose well your eternity depends on it~
I’m hid with Christ!
