In the words of the writer; you will know as you are known and see as all are seen, but only One can truly see/know for to the rest a veil is between…
Words have power and they hold sway. We all know and will continue to know each day how words can harm or heal. We will often spend our time at the end of each day counting and recounting each word spoken to us and/or against us. The power that words hold over us is undeniable and at times downright scary. We are encouraged to cast down imaginations in 2 Corinthians 10:5 because God knew we would wrestle in our mind over words.
Shakespeare went so far as to say; To thine own self be true. For a writer, his meaning was clear. Someone who used words as a means to an end understood clearly the power of words. Yet, even Shakespeare didn’t understand fully the power of these words. Had he understood, I hope that he would never have written these words down.
The one thing we all do clearly and unequivocally is stay true to ourselves, many times at the expense of others.
Moving on~
Scriptures tell us that words have extreme power.
For example God’s words have the ultimate power.
Genesis 1: 1-3
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and God said let there be… whatever He said~ was, end of the story.
Hebrews 1:3
Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Clearly words have power~
Some of you have made New Years Resolutions and most of you have already broken them. The what if’s have already begun. So you will spend the entire 2015 year using words to build yourself back up for the next year when you will do, just as you did the year before and the year before that.
The problem is not that your word did not have power to be fulfilled because it actually had a lot of power, the problem is that you used your words for the wrong things.
I know, I know I hear you. How could exercise, diet and blah, blah, blah be the wrong words? They are the wrong words because they have the wrong focus. Some of you I’m fixing to make madder than a wet hen, and if you have never seen a wet hen I don’t recommend you to do so.
The problem with New Years Resolutions is that they are focused on one thing and one thing alone and that is you.
Wait a minute, wait a minute before you prepare to hang me.
As a believer, a man/woman following Jesus Christ what are you supposed to be doing? Who is supposed to be you focus?
Now, who/what is actually your focus?
Matthew 16:24
Then said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me.
There are no New Years resolutions in those words, no self help guides to a better you, a trimmer you, not even anything that is remotely about you, except one thing. Deny yourself.
Boy isn’t that a new revelation for today?
My whole heart for you in 2015 is that you let the only words that matter, the only words that heal, that save, that deliver be the words that you allow exclusivity in your heart. Start a journal today and read God’s word and allow Him to show His power through His words. By next year you will be blown away by all that God has done over the year in your life. The power of His word to transform your life from the inside out is nothing short of amazing.
There is coming a day that is fast approaching where Genesis 1 is going to be reversed and He is going to let go. When He does it will all roll up like a scroll. Don’t be caught in the rush of people left behind wishing they had listened.
Don’t be so caught up with living life all about you and what you need or want. Life is about God and what He wants to accomplish on earth. Use your words for good this year. I don’t mean blab and grab it faith. I mean, knowing that words have power, stop using God’s name in vain, even if it is om g.. Speak kindly to all, you don’t know who you are talking to. Hebrews 13: 2 Choose your words carefully and wisely because God requires an account of each one you or I speak.
I leave you with one final thought and scripture. God loves you so much and He wants for you to be blessed in all that you do. There are just some things that matter and words are one of those things that matter allot to God.
Ecclesiastes 5:2
Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
God is calling are you listening?
I’m hid with Christ~
